Ned in Trouble

By Jinney and Kim C. Jones

Chapter 1

Ned McDodd walked through the door of his home and then suddenly crashed to the floor. The bang rang through the whole house and suddenly, what seemed like millions of tiny Who girls burst into the room, running to Ned. Sally appeared and gasped. “Ned!” She ran up and helped him up. “What happened!?” Ned held his head. He looked terrible, like he hadn’t had a lot of sleep.</p>

He’d been like this for the past few days and he still wouldn’t tell Sally anything. But this time, Sally was going to push through to the answer. “Ned. What happened?” She asked sternly. Ned looked at her and sighed. “It’s VonFrood. He’s…he’s…UGH! I can’t take it much longer!” Sally put a hand on Ned’s cheek. “Tell me exactly what happened.” He nodded and began the story.

*

The next day was worse. In fact, it was horrible. And it seemed like it would never end. Here’s why:

Ned walked into his office to do the usual paperwork. At around 10:00 AM, he was interrupted. He looked up and shuttered slightly as the Chairman, VonFrood, walked into the room. He walked over to Ned’s desk where Ned was sitting and started his lecture like he did almost every day.

“Mr. Mayor, you have been such a lousy for the past few days. All I have to say about this matter is that if this continues, you will have to forfeit your position as Mayor.” Ned looked away and mumbled quietly, out of the side of his mouth, “Maybe I wouldn’t be so lousy if you’d stop making me feel bad by these stupid, annoying, meaningless lectures.”

VonFrood turned on him. “WHAT WAS THAT!?” Ned didn’t budge. He had had enough now! “I SAID – MAYBE I WOULDN’T BE SO LOUSY IF YOU’D STOP MAKING ME FEEL SO BAD BY THESE STUPID, ANNOYING, MEANINGLESS LECTURES!” VonFrood looked at a little scared. But he recovered and said, “Well, you’re a bigger boob than I thought if you can’t take my lectures. I haven’t had anyone else to deal wit as much as you, McDodd.”

Ned was getting pissed off now. He got up and walked around. He was ready. “Well VonFrood, if you’d only SHUT UP! Maybe then I can finish a few things! If you’re always up in my FACE telling me what to do, well it’s a bit complicated to CONCENTRATE! WOULDN’TCHA THINK SO TOO!!!” VonFrood stumbled back from his volume. When he tried to recover this time, Ned wouldn’t let him.

“The worst part is that you every single FREAKING DAY it seems! Once a week is fine! But you have to be such an asshole to do like every single DAY! I’m SICK OF IT!!! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE AND MAYBE I CAN FINISH A FEW THINGS AROUND HERE!!” VonFrood spoke up by saying, “Mr. Mayor, I understand you’re upset but…” Ned stepped towards him. “NO! I’M NOT JUST UPSET! I’M LIVID!!! I DON’T KNOW WHAT’S UP YOUR BUTT, BUT IT’S REALLY BAD!!”

VonFrood closed his eyes and stood straight. “Mr. Mayor, that is enough!” He opened his eyes and gasped. Was it just him or was Ned taller? Ned got up in his face. “I DON’T CARE ANYMORE IF YOU’RE THE FREAKING CHAIRMAN!!! YOU ARE DONE TELLING ME WHAT TO DO!!! I’VE HAD IT!” VonFrood didn’t take that. He raised his hand, balled it into a fist, and punched Ned in the stomach. Ned made an, “Oof!” sound. But he recovered quicker than VonFrood thought.

Ned aimed and threw his fist right at the Chairman’s face. Ned saw it all in slow motion. But finally, BAM! it hit him! Right in the eye! VonFrood fell to the ground unconscious! Ned smiled. “HA! TAKE THAT!!!” But then he realized what he had just done. “Oh…oh no!” He then heard the door open and the other councilmen come in. They looked in and gasped when they saw VonFrood. They looked up at Ned.

Ned stepped back. “Wait! You don’t understand!” The second-in-command councilman shook his head and ran to VonFrood. With the help of the other councilmen, they got VonFrood out of the room.

When Ned tried to go after them, he realized the door was locked. He was trapped in there to wait for VonFrood’s punishment.

“Oh my…what have I done?” Ned felt tears coming and soon enough, he was actually crying, a thing he hadn’t done for the longest time. He backed up against the wall and then went to the ground, crying. He held his arms and hoped this was all a bad dream. But he knew that it wasn’t. He had really done that…how was he going to get out of this?

Chapter 2

Ned cried for a short while. But, due to so much crying, his crying soon caused him to fall asleep. He was so upset about what was going to happen. It all happened in the dark. Just darkness. Nothing else. But then a light went on above him. He looked up, but had to look down due to the powerful rays.

“Where am I?” He asked himself out loud. But he realized…his voice sounded different. “What?” He sounded like a child. He looked down to find the ground was closer to his face than before. Plus, the Mayoral Crest was gone. He gasped. He was a kid again. Plus, he wasn’t Mayor anymore. He looked around again, tears streaming down his face onto the black ground. But the tears disappeared. He gasped. What was going on?

“Well, well, what do we have here?” Ned looked up, gasped, and fell back. “V…VonFrood…” He stuttered. The Chairman smiled evilly, coming into the light. “I hope you know, McDodd, that you’re going to pay the price for what you have done.” He pointed into the dark. But suddenly, another light went on, showing the unconscious Chairman and Ned above him with his two fists.

Ned looked back to VonFrood. “You have always been a stupid, powerless, boob of a Who. But this is too far.” Ned shook his head. “It isn’t my fault. You made me angry because of everything you’ve been doing to me. You’ve always used your powers over me to make me feel horrible…just because I’m not perfect. Why? You know it’s your fault!”

The Chairman laughed. “It’s not my fault you were born imperfect. I am not in control of that, but as for now. I am in charge of you and you better listen to me and accept the consequences.” Ned gasped and started shaking. “What are you going to do?” He smirked. “I’m going to separate you from your love, Sally O’Malley. Not to mention I’ll take you whole family.”

Ned gasped and then screamed. “No! NO! NoOoOo!!!” He looked up as the Chairman started to shake him. He couldn’t breath! He couldn’t do anything. He couldn’t stop this! He couldn’t stop the evil Chairman VonFrood from taking away the thing he loved the most…

Chapter 3

“Mr. Mayor! Mr. Mayor!” Ned couldn’t breath! He heard the voice, but it was a mix of things. But as he started to breath again, the voice came clear. Ned opened his eyes. “Ms. Yelp?” She looked concerned and upset. “What happened?” he asked. She took a tissue and wiped his face to get the tears off. “You had a nightmare. You screamed and had a panic attack, but you’re okay now.”

Ned looked down. Mr. Yelp sighed. “You’re worried about what VonFrood will do to you, aren’t you, Ned.” He looked at her. This was the first time anyone, besides his wife Sally, had ever used his first name. He nodded. She touched his face. “Tell me your dream. I think I can help.” He nodded and started telling her the story.

When he finished, she nodded.

“You’re remembering the past. I remember when you told me that VonFrood was in love with Sally.” Ned nodded, a whole new set of tears and a headache coming. He looked down. Ms. Yelp lifted his head back up and said, “You love Sally, don’t you?” He nodded. “And she loves you?” He nodded. “I guess so…” She smiled. “If you ask me, I don’t think that VonFrood has a chance if he’s trying to get Sally because there’s only one person she loves in that way. And that’s you, Ned. You just have to remember that.”

Ned smiled. “But there are other things I’m scared he might do.” She nodded. “You told me that the Mayoral Crest was gone.” He nodded, grabbing his tie. He looked at the tie. The crest was still there, but who knows how long it will stay there. Ms. Yelp continued, “You’re worried that he’ll take the position away from you.” He nodded.

But when Ned looked up, he noticed that Ms. Yelp was smiling. “Why are you smiling?” he asked. She laughed quietly. “Just to let you know, since I’m your secretary, I’ve gotten the chance to read the rules of being the Mayor. I read that your job can’t be taken away unless you actually kill the Chairman. You only knocked him out.” Ned smiled. But the frown returned. “So what is my punishment?”

Ms. Yelp smiled. “The only things he can do is give you more paperwork or make you pay for the medical bill. Nothing too bad is going to happen. It was only a knock out. But remember, VonFrood will most likely think you don’t know this and if you don’t make all this clear, he’ll have the power. You just remember that, okay?” Ned smiled and nodded. “Thank you, Lara.” She smiled. “You are welcome, Ned.”
